The Ninth Street neighborhood of Durham spans the section from Main Street to Knox Street and encompasses both Ninth Street and Broad Street.

The district is conveniently located near Duke, downtown, and many residential neighborhoods.


Parking

Enjoy free, two-hour parking along Ninth Street and surrounding streets. 

Park as long as you like for $1.00/hour in the City of Durham parking lot on the north side of Ninth Street. Parking in this lot is free on weekends and after 7:00 PM on weeknights. 

Please do not use The Shops at Erwin Mills parking lot unless you are visiting one of their businesses.


 

Discover Ninth Street by bike or bus

Pedestrian friendly sidewalks and crosswalks are part of Ninth Street’s charm.

We’re also easily accessible by bike or bus.

The American Tobacco Trail has street crossings just a few short blocks from Ninth Street, and Main Street now has a bike line that runs all the way downtown. Check out the Durham Bike and Hike Map to plan your route!

The Bull City Connector, which runs from Duke’s campus to downtown Durham’s Golden Belt, has eastbound and westbound stops on Ninth Street. Go Durham bus route #11 also serves the Ninth Street area.
